Summer, entertainment , and recomendations

Summers always bear something fresh, cool, "in", or popular. This summer the movie screens have been showing some good material. I have heard a lot of people talking about the batman movie. I think they are rather overrating the movie, and I differ from their opinions. So far my favorite is "Step Brothers"... ok the humor in the movie can get a little annoying but if you know that you are going to watch a movie with Ferrell, then you should know that would be the case.
Moving on, I think by far the greatest clothing trend this summer was the Don Ed Hardy T-shirts by Christian Audigier. to be honest my first impression of the shirts was not the best, but I guess the gag is to wear an ugly t-shirt. Although that is my personal perception. Being cool has its costs, but I guess is worth it, for some anyway.
To wrap up the music recommendations I am going to give are the ones that I have under En Boga play list in my i-pod... I hope you enjoi:

Regina Spektor
Adele
MSTRKRFT
Wilco
M.I.A.
Mirah
Bia
Dj Brasco

PS I'll try to upload one of these artists' songs... soon

Faux étoiles

This is why I love Augsburg!
Because it has allow me to discover and exploit so many skills that I did realize I had.
These are some pictures inspired in Marcel Duchamp's conceptual art.

Women

After reading Wabbage's last two post I came up with this response:

well to start with, I think comparing males and females is not always correct. The reason of that is that this world needs from each of them. They both contribute with a different essence to this world.
In response to the public recognition men vs women, one can see from historical point of view that it has not been long since women were allowed to do more things. So it is really going to take some time for that phenomena to become more of a 50/50. In my opinion women are rapidly getting up where to they have always deserve to be.
Regarding to the difference in expressing feelings, I first have to say that it is erroneous to say that all men and women are the same. Second of all, the reason for those various discrepancies in men's and women's behavior can be better explained biologically. However, I think that the problem with both of the sexes is that they set up determinism to what they should ought to be. That is they assign an essence to their existence when the fundamental human condition is the opposite. Again I think that if the general public thought more about of their circumstances and realize that change can happen in which ever way each one of them wants. It only takes initiative and consistency. Oh but what about feelings? I am going to twist a quote by Plato and say that "[feelings] are natural and inevitable" and in the same way was circumstances you can let your feelings control you or you can control your feelings. Of course there are some that are harder to keep down. At this point I don't want to seem inhuman, but like Buddha said just let go and everything will be fine. Anyway there is a lot of ways to asses this aspect of human nature, and I am using... you know what ha haha

You have "friends" I have Ideas

"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
-George Bernard Shaw

I think this pretty much answers a question previously posted in this blog. The question in hand was:

Do people change palaces, or do places change people?

On the one hand, Bernard's definition, I think a man has already acquire the use of reason. On the other hand, Sartre's definition says a man's radical freedom allows him to choose constantly what to do of himself. Lately I been thinking that it is up to a man or a woman to control their circumstances. That is knowing that present circumstances are impossible to modify, but that acting in the present will have an impact upon future circumstances. If you think you feel that freedom is a burden then I think you are letting circumstances dominate your radical freedom, thus making change impossible. In my philosophy of circumstantial existentialism I call that living inside systematic circumstances.

How do you live your life?

A different kind of business

After working for an insurance company, I have noticed that these companies have a lot in common with religions.

#1 They sell you salvation from catastrophe
#2 They say they will be there for you no matter what
#3 They guarantee that their financial vehicles are the only ones that can take you from point A to point B
#4 They judge other companies and point fingers in a dual standard manner
#5 They use your money to invest it in their best interest, not yours.

Any similarities with religious practices?

Ahh I don't think so

I hate when individuals are assessing art pieces and they go " Why is this in a museum? I myself could do it so much better." I heard this a couple of times, the one I recall the most was after I showed some of Dan Perjovski's work in the NYC MOMA. The person who's name I am not going to mention (but I should)... well she basically told me that anyone could do that, even her. Ha haha what a stupid comment. It is the most ignorant shit anyone can say. It is not about whether or not you can or have the skills to do it, it is about the creativeness involved with it. If you are really that good, why didn't you come up with it? Ahhh you are not so fucking smart anymore are you? Instead of being jealous at some one like Perjovski, because he makes of something simple an incredible art why don't you shut the fuck up and appreciate the art. Seriously, if you don't much about art then just give positive comment. It might not be the greatest critique comment but like My man men Maynard Keynes said "I would rather be vaguely right, than precisely wrong." Now knock yourself out with this...

Something Different

I have seen taking pictures of art around school. Some others pay attention to the architecture and history of the buildings.
That is boring!
I am going to rank the best restrooms in the school (at least the gentleman ones).
So far I have not been in all of them, so I am going to start my journey across school.
I'll keep you posted.

PS I have not posted my conjecture yet, because I am still working on it... "the world is expanding as I write"

Annoying or what?

I have had this on my mind for so long because it really annoys me when I run into it.
In order to avoid being arbitrary I am going to share my point of view. So be careful when you read this, specially when you get to the part where I talk of femmes.
I find really annoying when I run into a guy's profile where the picture is them shirtless. Seriously what the fuck are they trying to accomplish? Wow you are reap, so what who gives a rats ass? I don't, so if you are trying to impress some ladies you are kinda pathetic. If what you are looking for is to impress the general public, then why don't you become a stripper or enroll to a body builder contest.
On the other hand, it is also annoying when I run into girl's profiles where they appear to be sexy and pretty much portrait their physical attributes. I am not going to say that I don't like it, but I find it annoying in because it attracts my attention and I waste time going through pictures. (I might get in trouble for that)
My advice is guys quit posting your nasty pictures and girls if you are going to show up... then make the pictures handy so i don't have to waste time looking for them.

PS I hope you don't find this post misogin, because it's just a gag... get it a god damn gag...

Manifesto of a blogger

I write on this blog for Augsburg College, more specific, for Homemade which purpose is to portrait the life of an Augsburg student.
There are are two bloggers for each class and we are given full liberty of expression. Since I have the awesome chance of writing whatever I want, I have taken the task of becoming the last resort of in-school politics. I got this idea because after reading the Echo every week I realized that they criticize left and right but no one is on their back, and don't get me wrong I know, or knew many of the Echo staff. I believe that every main stream (ha haha ) deserves to be judged so... I know that the world does not need more political analysts, but that is not the intended goal of this blog. I rather consider it to be the radical nest of criticism to pretty much everything. I think with this being my second year posting, I have to restate that much of the content you will find here is somewhat along heterodox lines. With that I mean that I asses many different issues using humor, which in many cases are inside gags or jokes (which you can get if you follow the blog regularly, other than that you can always contact me to clarify anything).
My goal for next year is to make of this blog something more interactive with anyone who is interested in taking part of it.
Anyway, I hope to have lots of fun with this space and the day this becomes frequented by more than 3 persons a week, someone should be on my back.

How is life ought to be lived?

Well that's is truly a million dollar question innit?

The truth is that no one yet has delivered an answer that fully encompasses how life is ought to be lived.

Philosophers come and go and with them the ideas of a generation evolve and transcend the future generations. This is what Karl Popper called the natural selection of knowledge. The reason for that is that man comes up with ideas, theories, etc. that can never be proved fully at a given time, rather, all this bulk of knowledge transcends from generation to generation thus becoming more fit.

Now that being said, I think Popper's ideology applies to everything but to the question posted in the tittle of this post.

I will reveal my conjecture of how life is to be lived in the next post. Meanwhile, why don't you ask yourself how do you live your life?

Productive Summer???

I think I mentioned in a previous post that this summer has been the worse for me in regards to having a stable job. However, I think the way things have unfolded have given me the chance of expanding my knowledge in many subjects (well not so many) but more important than that I have been learning a lot from introspective exercises and auto criticism. Now I am more interested in re-conciliating our way of living with philosophical thinking. I think this is great because I would never have a chance to do this during the school year. Anyway the reason I am putting this out there is because I think it would be cool if we could start an intellectual society at school. Anyone interested?

Credit Cards a Minneapolis Living

I FUCKING HATE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS. Even though I am a Finance and Economics major, I have to say that there are some practices within the financial industry that crack my balls. I just got charged $50 because I made more than six transactions on my savings account which resulted in a service fee that at the time caused overdraft fees. I just hate that it took me about 6 hours to make those fifty bucks and stupid wells fargo made them in 5 secs. Anything wrong with that?

My Bad

I want to apologize for the low maintenance that this blog has received from my part this past week. I was very busy last week, so I did not get around to create new entries. I attempted to write something but sadly enough I just wrote the title.

Here is the story to it read carefully

It was very funny because we (as me and my GF) went to get brunch at the Local, but they did not have either cold cafe or chocolate milk. So I went to Starbucks to get my usual Venti White Mocha extra shot. The only problem was that I forgot to say cold at the beginning of the phrase so I got a hot one. The varista was nice enough to re prepare my order, and for my surprise still let me grab the other drink. So when I was done with the cold cafe I pored the hot one an added more ice. I was so fed up by the cafe because it had dos shots. So I was walking down complaining about me carrying the cafe around when we ran into this hippie couple. The hippie girl went "any cold coffee to spare" I was like knock yourself out and gave her a full cafe. For what she said "YOU ARE GOING TO HEAVEN NO MATTER WHAT." I hope that holds constant until my time comes. ( Oh yeah, by the way I have a brand old girlfirend ha haha)

On Ethical Dilemmas

I think my biggest problem in the ethical arena is when people argue to be righteous because their views about society’s issues are better than the politicians running the country, or their boss, and so on. They talk about morality and they think they have the key to all the problems and are certain that they could solve them only of they had a position of power. In the end all they do is talk, may be they give the occasional dollar to the homeless person in the stop light. In my opinion this kind of people could do great things by taking care of what is in within their reach.

What is your stand?
