Not what it seems

Regarding the budget deficit I guess my opinion was a little biased, but I still hold most of what I said. I had the opportunity of stooping by the faculty and staff meeting in the Easts commons yesterday. There I had also the chance to chat with my man men JTP aka Jimbo. He told me he thinks the president and his subordinates are dealing the situation the best they can. He also told me that they are carrying with the issues that the last administration left unresolved. So, I guess writing this is a nice way of balancing the situation. Anyway, I guess you can figure your own resolution for the issue...

Organized Confusion

I think those are the words that best describe my life right now. I have been studying a bunch for the later tests and final papers. At the same time my personal life is a confusion. I really have no clue of what the summer is ought to be and I am somewhat afraid of suffering a financial crunch. I guess all that comforts me is that I would do well in my classes. In fact I already got a 4O in one of them. At this time I like to apologize for the lack of commitment to my entrepreneurial idea of selling books online. I guess I came up with the idea too late. Maybe next year...

Pretensions, crisis, double standards

First of all I want to applaud the efforts of the people behind the Collegiate Press to keep the students informed on administrative issues of the College.I feel that without them students, or at least the ones that read their work, would be totally miss-lead. I think it takes a great effort not to realize that the school's leadership has been spending money in a conspicuously way since it changed hands from the President's house remodeling to the current trips to abroad locations. Coming from a third world country I am familiar with they type of governance that this college has authoritative in many regards, and lack of responsibility. To my eye it seems that they did learn a lot in Nicaragua... maybe this college functionaries are not corrupt, but I feel they do operate with double standard. If someone do something wrong, they chase them down and make them pay the price of their actions. But if they are the ones who mess up there is always some sort of excuse that puts them in a safe box. If not they blame it on some one else, the thing is that they never assume responsibility. I feel that blaming the unmet retention rates as the main cause of the crisis is so lame. It really reminds me of the Enron scandal. I can see a Jeff Skilling inside our leadership people trying as hard as he can to pretend to be innocent and then explaining that the poor performance of the college is someone else fault. Lets be realistic, who else in this institution knows better that money has been going out the window, and that not a lot has made it in. With pain in my heart I have to point out that ultimately why would a rational student stick around a college that offers this kind of atmosphere? My response to that is because faculty, staff, and other students make up for the crappy leadership. Funny enough just like in a third world country, Augsburg College is best represented by its people not by the Board of Directors and their subordinates.
Oh by the way good luck on your tests ya'll!

This is the end...

I really wanted to upload The Doors song "The End" but I do not have it with me. In exchange I have decided to put a Spanish rap theme by SFDK, which I find somewhat nostalgic. Enjoy the las day of classes and prepare for your final(s). Please hit me up if you are interested in collaborating with the book project.

Neglected

I have yet realized another thing. I actually did not realized but I actually acknowledged that I have a huge project due next week. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I completely and purposely let it sit until the very last minute. I know it is not smart, so my advice for incoming Auggies is that the best way of combating procrastination is to get the job done as soon as you know about it. Then you might have time to enjoy the nice weather.

About the book selling project, well I know it is a good idea and for more that I want to push it... I don't have time to get dirty with that business. However anyone who is interested in pursuing that I can help doing something... maybe I'll create that facebook group. As always your comments are very much appreciated pass the word about these blogs... "I personally believe that [they are fun]"

Books and the end of the year

I was just thinking that we could raise some money to buy a foosball table for the new student lounge in CH C. My proposal is to keep the books that the bookstore won't by back, and instead of donating them to B&N and let them profit out of our "donations" We can designate a team of people who will work on selling those books online and use the proceeds to buy more fun stuff for the lounge. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Traditions and trends

There is one aspect of human life that caughts my attention on a regular basis. Traditions, what do they really mean? What happens when a tradition dies? Is it good to recycle old traditions? In my perspective, I would have to say "it depends." I mean there are stupid traditions "such as like"(ha haha) the masonic tradition of walking at the pase of minus 10mph in order to put a stinking flag in the front the meeting room. However, I don't know if that is practiced here in the US. In Mexico they do at the beginning of their celebrations, and believe me it is annoying. Lets talk about cool traditions... well I guess one cool trend which I am positive will become a tradition is the use of cellphones at concerts. It is environmentally friendly, since reduces the emissions of its predecessor, the lighter. Now lets talk about traditions that are dying, getting together to have a nice chat is no longer what it used to be. In my life span I have noticed that people are not as friendly as they were 10, 15 years ago. "[I]Ask why?"(Asshole(ok another personal gag, I offer a prize of 5 bucks if someone gets it... and posts it back)). I think the short response is technology... the broader answer is that everyone is trying to be so cool that instead to committing to a solid purpose, so we end up committing to do more than we can manage. On top of that we don't admit that we are humans and we have a top capacity, so we are arrogant and tell ourselves I can manage that and more... Well ask me about my multi overlapped appointments of this week. Then ask me, How are you feeling? Mism0's response... "sick and tire of being sick and tired"

In response

I know I chose a prefabricated template for my damn Blog. I apologize if I let anyone down because of that. I gotta confess that I did not do anything that was not in the best interest of my readers. In other words the freaking html of blogger.com is Fucked up and it won't let me be original. So I opted to change to something more friendly to read and follow (since is already hard to follow my parentheses inside of parentheses sentences). I hope that answers some of you questions... now I gotta cash out Dudes!

Sodexo formerly known as Sodexho

What is it it with them? Has anyone noticed (or in my case realized) that they have been doing nice things for the students? Hmmm my guess is that they feel threatened by the rumors of having their contract with school terminated soon. SO now they are playing the "lets be nice with students" role. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't remember Sodexo sponsoring events, not even mentioning giving away X box 360's (I mean that was the In vogue video game console of the time, now unfortunately is the Weed or Wii or whatever the heel that stinking thing is called... yes I hate it). Anyway, I feel that if Sodexo really wanted to be nice with everyone, namely the students, they could be more friendly with their prices. I still think that 5 dollar gummy bears don't have a place at an institution that presumes to promote free trade (or at least the majority of the students, or at least the students behind all the socialist like activities of the last academic year (which is theme for another post... not this one though)). Sorry about the tangent, I mean Sodexo could really implement some nice changes to their meal plans. For example they could give a certain number of guest passes per semester to all meal plan holders. Another thing they could do is to bring the breakfast system back to what it used to be, so I don't have to pay 8 bucks for my morning hash browns, now that will be helpful. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh but no, that is not possible they just want to gain a few of our harts so they can come back next year and keep ripping us off.

"When you are sick"

Ok in order to understand this post you have to fulfill the next prerequisites:
Had watched the movie "Hot Rod"
Have an open mind to dumb jokes, comments, or gags

Now try to imagine this sentences in a for of an informal chant.

When you are sick

When you are sick you don't wake up in the morning for class
you don't pay much attention in class
you don't care about the campers in the quad
you don't care about bringing guests to senior party

When you are sick you slack even more
you wonder why smiley's moved further away from Augsburg
you blame it on global warming

Wheeeeeeeeeeen Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Areeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Siiiiiiiiiiiiiick!

Way to be smart!

I really don't know, or understand many things in life. However I had another realization. This time I realized that humans are destined to be totalitarians no matter what their basic principles are (well if they were already totalitarian, but that it's kind of redundant... for the ones that don't know the meaning of redundant let me put it in a sentence: this sentence in the parentheses is redundant). The reason I am arguing this is because I just discovered that one of the major flags of idealism and freedom of expression, in the end turned out to be a totalitarian. Ernesto Guevara "Cuba liberator" had many good ideas and "ideals", but what did he really accomplish? Some people argues that not much. Right went he got assigned governmental duties in Cuba the very first thing he did was to remove the autonomy of the schools. He did so because he was afraid that new ideas would replace his and that a new guerrilla would be against him and his equals.
Anyway, that is not the heart of this post. I was just intending to use this as an example of how to be smart. Why? Because many times we say "I would never_____(fill in the blank) " and we end up doing,or saying something that we swore not to. So the lesson to learn to day is the "way to be smart." SO be careful with your public statements and specially your musical taste (don't be just and Emo because everyone else is and then stop being one because you are afraid you will get you ass kicked somewhere in Mexico). By being smart (ha haha) you'll avoid rocks to be thrown at your profile. SO also if you say "I am not running for president" (of any kind) please DON'T.

Satire, discussion, and more

I was just realizing (not to variate), that I have been abusing a lot of inside jokes and gags. Most of the people never get them, unless they hang out way too much with me. I was thinking that the solution to this is to get more people to create discussions that have more involvement of others jokes and gags. Then we will reach an ultimate state where Auggie jokes and gags will transcend through the years. I mean that is just a suggestion. I can always make fun of things at my discretion...

Second to last... none?

First Let me apologize for the illegibility of this blog. I have been struggling to change the damn text color but the freaking html codes are being a bitch on me, and nothing I learned in my MIS course is helping me out... I guess is to complex because this is actually xtml... Anyway, tonight I am again the last person in the Library... at least in the second foor. I don't know if I should feel more intellectual than the average since this happens to me quite a bit. Maybe no... what was I talking about? Damn crack...
