A metaphysical view of the world

In the midst of what seems to be a long lasting global recession, I cannot help to wonder why and how we got to be in such situation?
At the beginning I tried to tackle the issue in question, by thinking what everyone thinks. Some of those repeated words could be:
1. Greed
2. Bad decisions by management
3. Complex engineered financial instruments who no one seemed to understand
4. Disproportionate bonuses to top people
5. you name it!

After a while I realized that all these problems are really concerning. It also became evident the root of all of them when I analyzed the human civilization historic purpose.

If we go back all the way to the Homo Habilis(HH), is easy to see that the way the lived was precarious, but still one of the main concerns was to look for efficiency and effectiveness in performing basic daily basis activities. It took several years for tools to become developed and improved but they eventually did. These people learned how to create fire, etc. Then the ancient civilizations came and started to develop and inquire new knowledge. The "standard of living of the ancient Greeks was way better than the one of the HH population... And so is ours compared to the ancient Greeks. The fundamental purpose of the human civilization has been to improve its standard of living. All that is great, BUT I think that the current events are suggesting something so simple that is being overlooked...

more soon.
